Oulala has something for everyone! Where do I begin?! Thursdays nights are such a great vybe for the younger crowd. Wednesdays are jazz night and it’s soothing and calming with an older smaller crowd. The band that plays there were super friendly and talented and they allow people to bring up instruments or perform their own pieces as a mini open mic. Haven’t been there on a Tuesday but I hear it’s Taco Tuesday and there are other themes for other days. The food is AMAZING! I’m Haitian and I have to say their tassot meal was on point - I don’t give that kind of compliment easily! So good that I went back for the same food two days in a row! The rice was perfectly cooked, the plaintains were deliciously crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and thin-ish just how I like it! The tassot was everything: well seasoned, succulent and soft, and crispy on the outside. Absolutely delicious! The staff are very personable and accommodating! When I had some drinks at the bar as well the bartenders were pretty busy yet worked fast. The drinks when sitting at a table were great also! Five stars! I love this spot! We need more diverse Black-owned places like this around this area! I will keep coming and being friends!
I brought my dad here for Father's Day brunch and he loved it. We were served authentic Haitian food per request while Haitian music played in the background. The akra, griot, and green plaintains were made to perfection. We felt like VIPs! Marlene was so accommodating and personable. We will definitely be back for Kompa night!
We don't have a lot of sit down Haitian restaurants in LI so when we found out about this place we just had to give it a try. It's a very charming restaurant with a lot of traditional decor which was nice to see. Food was sooooo tasty! I went with a group of 6 so we ordered a lot of the items off of the menu and everything was a hit. Drinks were strong and tasty! We came last night and it was very empty for a Friday night, and the owner told us they didn't have any usual events planned for the weekend due to the holiday which was the cause for the slow down. They usually either have a live band or a DJ on the weekends and hear that it gets pretty lively into the evening. We will definitely make our way back for that
It was a wonderful experience top to bottom. The list of pros is very long and there are no notable cons. The food here is AMAZING! The staff is kind, warm and so understanding. The atmosphere is beautiful from the live music to the decor and lighting. Please move Ou La La La high on your list of places to visit this year if you love live music, carribbean culture, good food, and a bit of spice. I dined with a party of 8 and felt the waiter was adequately able to manage the challenge. I will be visiting again! We loved Ou La La!
This place is a hidden gem in Nassau County. I came here on a Wednesday evening to listen to the Live Jazz band and they were great. The Ambiance is nice, friendly staff, food delicious, and drinks weren't watered down. I do think they need to advertise this place more via social media etc, so people in the area are aware they exist. There wasn't too much of a crowd that night, but the band didn't seem to mind, they played like it was a full house!
My husband and I went a few weeks ago and again on Valentines Day. The service, the food and the music were great! The live music here is outstanding!
Ou la la is amazing. When i tell you their happy hour is on point with buy one get one free plus their food was just simply mouthwatering. They even have events throughout the week including their Jazz nights on Wednesdays. This is also a great spot to have events as they have a stage and a big space. I highly recommend to come here.
Food was so good and I am Haitian and it was well seasoned and cooked. The drinks were good couldn’t taste any of the liquor it’ll definitely sneak up on you. The music was wonderful gave me a family party vibe will definitely be coming back!!
